Inspirational Books Book Review The 7 Great Prayers For a Lifetime of Hope and Blessings By Paul & Tracey McManus Reviewed by Catherine Pulsifer Imagine losing your job, having 3 children to raise, the bill collectors at your door, and finally losing your home. How do you cope? The book, The 7 Great Prayers , was written as a result of coping with just that situation. Paul & Tracey McManus experienced the disappointment, the fear, and the worry of dealing with a financial crisis when Paul lost his job. How did they cope? As the authors wrote, "It was better to focus on the good and what we had than to focus on what we had lost and were losing." By doing this, the book was written. The 7 Great Prayers are ones that are simple yet powerful. The book also offers positive affirmations that you can use no matter what your situation. Paul & Tracey offer their own experience and provide insight into how they survived as a family while watching all they had worked for being taken away. As the authors wrote, "We're not preachers; we're just regular people."
Some of our favorite quotes from the book: "One of the gifts that God gave all of us is choice; the choice to do good or to do evil; the choice to think and act positively or to live negatively." "The truly successful person who attracts blessings into his or her life thinks and acts positively." "You will need to believe in yourself and your ability to overcome and succeed." "When you lose everything, you get depressed if you don't step back and start appreciating what you do have." "Each person's God-given gifts are different from those of another." "Worry got us nowhere. What did? Action." "As simple as it may sound, all you have to do to have a life full of abundance and blessings is to use these prayers every day for the rest of your life." We all experience challenging and difficult times in our lives. This book, The 7 Great Prayers, is one that provides suggestions to help you get through those times. It will focus your thoughts and provide inspiration. I would recommend the book not only to anyone going through difficult times, but for everyone. You do not have to pray out loud like you would be requested to do in a church. You can pray silently during the day by taking a short mind break where you open your communication with God. Byron Pulsifer, Prayer Continued I received nothing that I wanted, only that of which I need. My prayers have all been answered, with only a single plead. Julie Hebert, Everything I Needed I believe in miracles . . . prayers that are answered and healing hands. The caring heart that understands each day's a gift. John McLeod, I Believe In Miracles The prayers of a parent for their child are those that seek to keep them safe, well, and protected. But, the prayers of a grandparent are to keep us well enough so we can continue to share in these special moments for many, many years to come. Byron Pulsifer, Pray for Your Children The thing to try and keep in mind, no matter what the day, is there is always something good, to give thanks to God in prayer. Julie Hebert, Always Something Good Sometimes, we just never seem to take the time we need and one of these times we should is to spend time alone with our prayers - to spend time with God and speak to him about our issues, troubles and ask for guidance, strength and the energy to move forward with our lives. Byron Pulsifer, Anxiety To Be Overcome Life has a way of presenting problems, difficulties and challenges that far supercede our own abilities but with the help of God through prayer, these issues can be put behind us. Byron Pulsifer, A Story Of Guardians God is there, he hears your prayers, and he loves you. Deen Kemsley, Trust in the Lord |
