Andrew Carnegie Quotes

November 25, 1835. - August 11, 1919

Born in Scotland, Andrew Carnegie moved the US in 1848. He believed in hard work and this was demonstrated by his life's work, which started when he was 13 years old. He identified opportunities and invested both his time and money in making them successful. One such venture was the growing railroad industry. He invested his money in both oil and steel. And eventually the Carnegie Steel Company was formed. He shared his success and wealth through the creation of The Carnegie Corporation which still exists today. He had a strong belief in free public libraries which he helped created through his generosity of his wealth. It has been reported that during his lifetime, Carnegie gave away over $350 million of his money to help others. An amazing man - certainly an inspiration to us all!
