Cheer An Inspirational Thought

Author:

Our own troubles sometimes weigh heavily upon us. We don’t appreciate the good we have in our life because we are so focused on what we may think is wrong in our life. If we let them, our troubles can drag us down to the extent that we are anything but cheerful. We can become so consumed by our own issues we don’t recognize or see anything but our own issue, and when this happens our happiness slides downward.

We All Have Them
Everyone faces troubles or challenges at some point in their lives. I don’t know of anyone who goes through life without challenges. Imagine a life with no issues that would result in no learning, no personal growth, no character building.

If life was a breeze, with not a problem in the world you would never learn. You would not experience any personal growth as everything would be easy. And, your character would not develop. You see trials and tribulations build who we are. You would not be able to help others as you would have no empathy for what others are going through. is built by how you handle

If you compared your troubles, or challenges, with those of others, you would surely find that there are those whose troubles make yours look like minor inconvenience. We sometimes feel like we are the only ones experiencing difficulties. But there are many who face much larger challenges than we do. If we stopped and looked at that for a minute it would put our challenge in perspective. It can give us hope that if others have overcome then we also will. We also can be appreciative that our issue is not as large as the other person. If our attitude was one of gratefulness rather than one of self-centeredness it would truly make our life easier.

The Man Who Had No Shoes
We have all heard the story of the person who felt sorry for himself because he had no shoes. He was miserable and very unhappy. He thoughts were on poor me, everyone else had shoes but he did not. But, then he met a man who had no feet, and it changed his attitude to be thankful that he had feet. Not having shoes was no longer an issue!

A Different Way To Face Challenges
If you spend your energy helping someone else, by cheering up someone else, you may give them hope, and, you actually minimize and lighten some of your own burdens. You’ll feel a lot better when you share your happiness with someone else. You will find that you may still be faced with an issue but it will not be consuming all of your thoughts.

By helping others, by taking that break from your own problems you may find that a solution will appear in your mind. Sometimes when we take a break we may find that solutions then present themselves. We get so focus on our problem that we actually can’t see beyond it. It is like doing a puzzle, all the pieces are there but because we sat and stared at it for so long we can’t find that one piece we are looking for. But just getting up and going for a walk and then coming back to the puzzle we end up seeing the missing piece. Sometimes too much focus can actually hinder us from finding the answer.

Go To Zero
When faced with a challenge, a dear friend of mine offers his wisdom to me by saying, “go to zero.” What he means is that sometimes when you focus to long on an issue you won’t find a solution. But when you step away, and then go back to the problem your mind has had a rest and it will find the answer. And what a better way to step away from your problem than to help someone else. By helping someone else you are focusing not on your own issue but on someone else’s issue. You are using your brain to find solutions to assist another. So then when you go back to your problem it will amaze you when the answer will come to you.

Helping Others Brings Happiness
I also believe in the wisdom of the saying: “What goes around comes around”. When you help others it does come back to you. And it does not have to be a big thing, even a small token of help can make a huge difference in the lives of someone else. So the next time you are feeling down or overwhelmed with your own issues, help someone else. It will bring much happiness into your own life. And you will have made a difference in the life of someone else. And is that not a purpose of each of our lives – to make a difference to other people.

Little Things
Author: Unknown

It takes a little muscle and it takes a little grit,
A little true ambition with a little bit of wit.
It’s not the “biggest” things that count and make the “biggest” show.
It’s the little things that people do that makes this old world go!

A little bit of smiling and a little sunny chat,
A little bit of courage to a comrade slipping back.
It’s not the “biggest” things that count and make the “biggest” show;
It’s the little things that people do that makes this old world go!

Never Mind
Author: Unknown

Sometimes when nothing goes just right
And worry reigns supreme,
When heartache fills the eyes with mist
And all things useless seem,
There`s just one thing can drive away
The tears that scald and blind –
Someone to slip a strong arm `round
And whisper, “Never mind.”

No one has ever told just why
Those words such comfort bring;
Nor why that whisper makes our cares
Depart on hurried wing.
Yet troubles say a quick “Good-day,”
We leave them far behind
When someone slips an arm around,
And whispers, “Never mind.”

But love must prompt that soft caress-
That love must, aye, be true
Or at that tender, clinging touch
No heart ease come to you,
But if the arm be moved by love,
Sweet comfort you will find
When someone slips an arm around,
And whispers, “Never mind!”

If I Can
Author: Unknown

If I can do some good today;
If I can serve along life’s way,
If I can something helpful say,
Lord, show me how.

If I can do a kindly deed,
If I can help someone in need,
If I can sow a fruitful seed,
Lord, show me how!
