What We Can Learn From A Dead Battery

Author:

Did you ever have a bad day; a day where everything seems to be going wrong? A day, where you face one challenge after another? Sometimes, when we have days like this, our attitude becomes one where we are just waiting for the next bad thing to happen. And so the day continues in that negative frame of mind. When this happens, we actually attract negative events in our day because that is all we are looking for.

You Set Your Own Path
Recently, a friend of ours called and they seemed to be not only having a bad day, but a bad week. Listening to all the challenges this friend was talking about made me realize that they were in fact attracting more negative in their life.

Don’t get me wrong, the issues this person was facing were certainly challenging. And, I would agree that it was a bad week for her. But, as I listened to her talk, it seemed no matter what was happening in her life it was all negative. She couldn’t seem to see any positive. From her work, to her personal life, she only saw the negative.

As I tried to point out some positives, to her she just couldn’t see them. Later in the week, I was out shopping and I found the perfect card for her.

Charge Yourself
Sometimes life is much like a dead battery in many ways. A dead battery can be totally annoying for sure but a dead battery can be boosted back to life just like you can boost yourself back to life. Sure, it takes energy to get you back to prime working condition just like it takes energy to boost a dead battery. But, even a dead battery can be recharged even if it is slowly done. Life is a series of batteries that we keep charged where not all batteries are necessarily at their peak capacity at all times.

You Are In The Lead
Each of us has several batteries comprised of different needs and jobs. We have a battery for affection and love; a battery for helping others; a battery for doing our jobs; and a battery for ensuring that we spend some quality time either with friends, family or a favourite hobby where we can totally relax. Not all these batteries are always fully charged but that doesn’t mean we can’t recharge if we want to, when we want to, and how we want to. A dead personal battery only means that you must give it a boost – a boost that is totally under your control – you have the recharging mechanisms before you and it is up to you to plug in.

“You have the option to recharge a dead battery if you take the time and energy to hook it up. Your life is also a battery – so hook it up and get that recharger ready and just do it”.
Byron Pulsifer

A Destiny Needs Revitalizing Often
Each one of us has the ability to do what we want, to think as we want, and to be what we want if only you take good care of your battery. You do not have to let your battery get so low that it doesn’t work properly. Each one of us the option of doing those things that can keep us fully charged. Take for example, the battery that you take to work. You may be finding that you are wearing down to the point where you are starting to feel that you are running on low. This could be because of the type of work you do, or things are not just proceeding the way you want. Well, you can recharge your battery by doing some very positive things including engaging in stress reducing activities like walking, running or going for a vigorous swim. If it is a job you do not like anymore, you can recharge by starting your search for a new position – at least you are giving yourself hope.

The front of the card had a picture of a battery on it. And it said, “Stuff We Can Learn From A Dead Battery”. When I opened the card, it said; “In life, there must be both the positive and the negative, or stuff won’t work.”

Needless to say, I bought the card and sent it to my friend. The next time you are having a bad day, think about a dead battery. And remember, that you do have positive in your life. We sometimes have to look for it, but it is there!
