The days just seem to get harder and harder with no rest in sight. The hours are filled to capacity with this and that until you don’t think you could possibly cram anymore into them. The nights are not any better with getting meals, or kids ready to go out to their activities and coming home to do a little more work for the office. By the time you get ready for sleep, you are wound up not down and struggle with thoughts that demand attention and a pile of things left undone. Is it any wonder you have a hard time getting a restful sleep and hate the sound of the alarm clock? You get up not feeling much more rested than the night before.

Potential Burn Out
Are you suffering from potential burn out or are you already there?

For many thousands of people, burn out is a very real issue that they either are aware of or are in the midst of but do not recognize the symptoms just like some of those that I talked about previously.

Be Aware
You first need to be honest with yourself. If you constantly feeling that life is one big whirligig that won’t let you off, you may be in the first or final stages of burn out. So, what to do?

One of the first things you better do is to get the rest you need. This does not mean that you should be working right up to the time of bed either. The need here is to give you a deadline well before it is time to go to bed something about two hours before. If you find you cannot, you also need to re-schedule those nighttime activities that keep your engine running far too long. Along with the slowing down is to ensure that you are eating properly and healthy and this means that you should quit eating those late night snacks that are building up carbohydrates and sugar. Eat your supper meal taking the time to enjoy it – but do not over eat. A supper meal is not the time to heap your plate high or to dine late as in eight or none o’clock. Food needs time to digest before you go to bed and try to sleep.

Take care of yourself including using exercise as a form of stress relief, and take those vitamins. You may think you are a rock but get over it. You are human and need care.

Be Honest
Turn off that blackberry when you get home and quit answering every call that comes to your phone. Take time for yourself and you can’t do this if you are constantly adding to your energy drain by giving your life over to the control of technology – the request can wait till morning. Take those vacations and do not take your laptop or iphone or blackberry – you are on vacation and that means having a real break and not just going to a different location and doing much of the same thing. Be honest with yourself; you are responsible for your own behavior so control it and not let others or demands control you.

Inspirational Quotes for Reflection:

“It seems that our lives are filled by the demands of other people and unfortunately we tend to put off the “me time” until someday in the future.”Timo Kiander

“Vacations mean a change of pace, a gentleness with ourselves, a time of rest and renewal, and a time to stretch ourselves and encounter new people, new lands, new ways, and new options.” Anne Wilson Schaef
