A God For All
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 1998

God is always near us, competent and sure,
In His holy presence we can rest secure.
He’s the eternal Ruler over all mankind,
Both the good and wicked occupy His mind.

The good who serve and worship; the wicked in their sin;
There is no hedge to bar them, for Christ invites them in.
The Christians to bring praises, the sinner to repent,
God’s love and His salvation unto all men is sent.

The weak, the meek, the humble, He gives enabling grace,
And in life’s trials and anguish we all may seek His face.
“Fear not for I am with you,” the Scriptures have revealed,
And when God makes a promise, forever it is sealed.

There may be vales of darkness, there may be times of woe,
But God will bring His comfort because He loves us so.
Our enemies He’ll conquer, the enemy of fear,
Of loneliness and sorrow and death’s departing tear.

We know God has the answers to questions yet unasked,
He has eternal patience, He’s ready for the task.
So trust in Him to guide you, through sorrow or in pain,
Just listen; hear Him calling – He may not call again.

There comes a day of reckoning, when all deeds are revealed,
When record books in heaven remain no longer sealed.
And where is your name listed? Is it in the Book of life?
Are you no longer struggling within the bands of strife?

Rejoice! For Christ the Saviour has open arms for you;
Believe, accept, then live it, for Christ makes all things new.

God is always near us

God’s Expressions
Poet , © 2012

God shows his expressions,
In many different ways.
The shinning stars at night,
And the sun with warming rays.

With every blade of green grass,
You see each and every day.
Demonstrates how God loves this world,
And wants his children to play.

And when the waves come high,
And force their way on through.
It’s then that God’s expressions,
Are showing something new.

And what about loud thunder,
And lightening shows, yikes!
Are God and his angels having fun,
Bowling up some strikes?

We really never know,
What God has planned for us.
But if something in this world makes us happy,
We know God has sent that bless.

So next time you see a bird,
Soaring in the sky.
Know God is also watching,
And is always close by.
So next time you see a bird, Soaring in the sky. Know God is also watching, And is always close by.

Snow Dance
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2011

The branches are dancing to music not heard,
Caressed by the wind like the flight of a bird.

Swaying and flowing as if filled with glee,
Happily bouncing from the evergreen tree.

Laden with snow in their coats white and pure,
Rhythmically moving, serene and secure.

Man could not move with the grace these display,
The wonders of nature are having their way.

Silently guided by God’s powerful hand,
Bending and bowing as if by command.

If only us humans obeyed like the trees,
Readily, willingly bending the knees.

Totally trusting, totally at ease,
Obeying His Word, seeking to please.

Unbelief
Poet: Elizabeth York Case

There is no unbelief.
Whoever plants a seed beneath the sod,
And waits to see it push away the clod,
He trusts in God.

Whoever says, when clouds are in the sky,
“Be patient, heart; light breaketh by-and-by,”
Trusts the Most High

Whoever sees, ‘neath winter’s fields of snow,
The silent harvest of the future grow,
God’s power must know.

Whoever lies down on his couch to sleep,
Content to lock each sense in slumber deep,
Knows God will keep.

Whoever says, “Tomorrow,” “The Unknown,”
“The Future,” trusts the Power alone
He dares disown.

The heart that looks on when the eyelids close,
And dares to live when life has only woes,
God’s comfort knows

There is no unbelief;
And day by day, and night unconsciously,
The heart lives by that faith the lips deny.
God knoweth why!

The poem below, The Handiwork of God , is one that shows how we see God all around us. For any non believers this poetry is one that may make them stop and think. Many times we hear people say show me, or prove it, the verses in this poem do just that!

The Handiwork of God
Poet: Author Unknown

I believe in the brook as it wanders
From hillside into glade;
I believe in the breeze as it whispers
When evening’s shadows fade.

I believe in the roar of the river
As it dashes from high cascade;
I believe in the cry of the tempest
‘Mid the thunder’s cannonade.

I believe in the light of shining stars;
I believe in the sun and the moon.
I believe in the flash of lightning;
I believe in the night bird’s croon.

I believe in the faith of the flowers,
I believe in the rock and sod;
For in all of these appeareth clear
The handiwork of God.

To us also, through every star, through every blade of grass, is not God made visible if we will open our minds and our eyes. Thomas Carlyle

Quotes about God

God’s Garden
Poet: Author Unknown

Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul

Plant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness

Plant four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be obedient
Lettuce really love one another.

You will have no garden without turnips:
Turnup for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnup to help one another

Water freely with patience and cultivate with love.
There is much fruit in your garden
Because you reap what you sow

To conclude our garden,
we must have thyme:
Thyme for God – Thyme for study
Thyme for prayer

I find that God has helped me all the way.
I Cannot See Ahead
Poet: Joseph Dyson

I cannot see ahead! I look behind,
And on the backward track what do I find?
I find that God has helped me all the way.
Aye, God has helped and blest me every day.

I cannot see ahead! But, oh, the past has been
A stream of blessings; what wonders I have seen:
Miracles of grace – “Red-letter” days,
A flood of tears, then burst of praise.

Ah, many a time I could not see the way,
So rough and dark and stormy was the way;
I cried to God – for what else could I do?
I cried to God that He might help me through.

In man’s extremest case God’s favored time is seen,
God makes the trouble go, as though it ne’er had been;
The ill I so much feared, it passed, it never came,
I passed triumphant through, I praised God’s name.

And though I cannot see ahead – enough for me,
God will lead me on, His face to see;
I praise God for the past and look ahead.
I safe to heaven shall go, by God’s hand led.

Lean heavily on Jesus, your burdens He will bear Greta Zwaan
The Answer
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2010

Life brings joys and blessing, but often heartaches too,
All through the deep, dark valley that God allows you through.
Where you must seek for answers, where you must grope for light,
You lose all independence and day seems black as night.

You are no longer master, your strength no longer flows,
Control has been surrendered, your life is full of woes.
There’s only one true answer, one road to travel on,
One method of submission when all your hope is gone.

Lean heavily on Jesus, your burdens He will bear,
His light will shine upon you, you’ll find your solace there.

Lord, I Did Again!
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2001

Lord, I ran ahead again, I thought You moved too slow.
I raced to bring lost souls to You; I wanted them to know.
I rushed right in and stated facts, so eager was my heart.
I ran to souls, quite unprepared; I had to do my part.

But people wouldn’t listen, Lord, they cast Your Word aside.
They wanted proof of what I said, something true and tried.
Then I remembered what You said, “Through love you’ll win mankind;
Not words, but deeds, a kindness wrought, the path a soul to find.

For folks will watch the way you live, to prove that you’re sincere.
The things you do will prove your worth, they’ll see before they hear.”
Forgive me, Lord. Again, You’re right. You know the heart of man.
My dogged, stubborn will destroy; Yours is a better plan!
