Having Enthusiasm

Author:

Having enthusiasm in performing any task gives you an abundance of energy. It is defined as: "intense and eager enjoyment, interest, or approval."

In any situation you can easily tell the people who are enthusiastic about what they are doing. These people have a strong interest and are eager to pursue the task at hand. Harry Truman demonstrated his wisdom when he said, "I studied the lives of great men and famous women, and I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the jobs they had in hand, with everything they had of energy and enthusiasm."

Motivates People
Showing enthusiasm also
motivates others around you. People naturally want to be around people who are upbeat and have energy. Their positive attitude is felt by the people around them. No matter what the issue they look for solutions and they are not easily defeated. They are the type of people who exhibit a true interest and are happy to be doing what they are doing. They have a passion; you can see their eyes light up when the discuss the topic.

When you look at children playing you will see enthusiasm. They laugh, they engage, and they have a true interest in what they are doing. Children are great examples of demonstrating this feeling.

Find Success
Those who demonstrate enthusiasm are far more likely to succeed because of their
attitude towards the task at hand. Someone who lacks enthusiasm rarely succeeds, and the reason is because of the attitude that they have. When they face a problem they are more likely to give up. The enthusiastic person will find ways around any set backs, they may fall down, but they are quick to stand up again.

Strong Belief
An enthusiastic person believes in what they are doing. They are excited and look forward to the day to achieve the task at hand. They have self-confidence in themselves and will find solutions to any
challenges that come along. Walter Chrysler once said, "The real secret of success is enthusiasm. Yes, more than enthusiasm, I would say excitement. I like to see men get excited. When they get excited they make a success of their lives. " The wisdom of his words still applies today.

In Your Work
We all have a
choice, we can decide to be enthusiastic or we can just put in the day. If you are working at a job that you are not enthusiastic about, then find work that excites you. If you need to improve your skills to get that job, then take courses and learn all you can. You will find your life is much happier if you are doing something that excites you rather than bores you.

Look around at the people you are working with. You can tell the ones who are only there working for the money. They always seem to be dragging around, they truly just put in their time. When you come in they rarely say good morning with any sort of joy in their voice. Money will never replace happiness. Life is too short to work at something you do not have a passion for, something that does not excite you.

We all would prefer to work with the person who shows interest and are happy about the work they are doing. They are the ones who light up the room when they walk into a meeting. No matter what job you do, you can be enthusiastic about doing it - you can find that one thing that makes a difference in what you do. It may be helping people, it may be making an environment better, it may be serving others. People can sense your lack of enthusiasm just as fast as they can sense your interest!

What It Does Not Mean
Having enthusiasm for what you are doing does not mean you won't face challenges or difficulties, but you will be able to overcome these difficulties by keeping your attitude positive.

Put lots of enthusiasm in all you do!
