We all hear the cliche, "live each day", but how many of us actually do that. How
many of us actually wake up and thank God for the new day. There are no
guarantees in life and waking up each morning is a gift. Many of us hear the
alarm clock go off and actually wish that we could just sleep. That is certainly
not an attitude that demonstrates you are thankful for the day ahead of you.
Life is so short. As we age it seems to get shorter. Time flys by, years pass
so quickly. But when we are young it appears that time goes by slowly, so we
don't appreciate our days. But, oh, as we get older that changes, and we
come to realize the words and meaning of "live each day".
Think about this quote: "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."
Or consider this inspirational quote: "This is the beginning of a new day. I have been given this day to use as I will.
I can waste it, or use it."
Is This Your Day
Does the start of your day reflect the above quotations?
Imagine if we took these words to heart. If we really lived the thoughts the
authors were trying to convey.
For many, sadly, it is simply another day of drudgery, same old same old,
off to a less than inspiring job, or, worse still, a day with little or no
hope for a better life.
For others we just take every day for granted. Not really stopping to appreciate
the dawning of a new morn.
Is this you?
Nagging Thoughts "Basically, a negative thought is any thought that invokes feelings of worry, helplessness and fear."
It would appear that, for thousands upon thousands of people, each day is one filled with regret and worry. Worry about what the next day will bring; those nagging thoughts of past failures and spurned advances that, for a fleeting moment, brought a ray of hope.
Rather than focusing our thoughts on our many blessings, we focus our thoughts
on the negative, on the things we wish were different, or on the things we think
we need, or things we think may or may not happen.
What is your focus?
Deny the Thief Of Joy
But, all of these daily issues can be summed up in one short word that is recognized the world over - and that word is worry.
Worry can consume. It can consume your happiness, your future, and
lead to both mental and physical ailments. Worry can affect relationships, it
can affect your work. It will stop you from living each day as your focus
is not on the day and the benefits it brings, your focus is on your worry.
What does worrying accomplish? Only negative things never positive!
Much has been written about worry. Think about the words said by these people:
"Some men storm imaginary Alps all their lives, and die in the foothills cursing difficulties which do not exist."
Edgar Watson Howe
"When you worry, you go over the same ground endlessly and come out the same place you started. Thinking makes progress from one place to another; worry remains static."
Harold B. Walker
