Meaning of Wealth

There are many unhappy people who have monetary wealth. But, does wealth always have to mean money?

Wealth is found in many ways and comes in various forms; it does not necessarily mean money.

It can mean the quality of our relationships. There are many lonely people who have a lot of money but have no real friends. All of their money can not buy friends - that is, a true friend.

Wealth can also be measured in relation to our health. Even a financially, wealthy person with an incurable disease cannot buy health.

Some of the wealthiest people can be the unhappiest. As the saying goes, "money does not buy happiness."

Many of us are wealthy in numerous ways although we simply do not recognize it. Enjoy the wealth you already have in your family and friends, in your health, in your freedom, in your knowledge, and most importantly, in yourself!

Wealth can also mean that you have a spirit within you that is worth getting to know. That is, you are a person who people turn to when they are in trouble either in a personal or professional way. You are the kind of person who people cherish in being a really good and genuine friend. You are a person of substance, which means that what you say you will in fact do without making up excuses as to why you cannot.

You are a person who exudes warmth as you pass by others on the street. You have a countenance that says you are in control of your own person, which means that you control your own destiny and that you are willing to work hard to accomplish what it is you desire from life. You are the backbone of your family where strength of character does not mean that you cannot express compassion, love and caring.

You are a person who gives freely of your time to help others who are in need of your attention whether that is at a local community group or helping out for school parent teachers meetings, or offering your assistance and time to canvas your neighbourhood for cancer or for some other worthy and necessary cause.

The expression of wealth for you is to walk down the street to a neighbour’s house so that you can help clean when an elderly person is sick, or go to the grocery store for them, or to take them out for a medical or dental appointment.

Wealth for you is the peace that you experience when you walk slowly through a park, or a quiet time spent reading a good book in your backyard, or a drive to the country along with your partner or children. It is the playful antics of crawling on the floor with your children playing a game, or making popsicles for your children on a warm summer day, or taking your dog for a walk as you admire the fall foliage and the fresh smell of the autumn day.

As you can see, wealth isn’t necessarily about money; it is more the wealth that you have within your own soul and what comes out through your mouth and heart.
