Dependence To Interdependence

A child is born totally depending on its survival on others. It has to be provided daily nourishment, till it is able to crawl. Gradually it is able to sit up. We need to help it to stand on its own feet. A little later as it grows. In each one of these stages the child is depending on some external support for its survival and movement.

This stage is termed as Dependence.

Later comes a stage when the child gets schooling, he goes for higher education and even goes for professional education; this prepares him for facing the life's problems, i.e.: earning for himself and for his family.

At this stage we call him to be independent.

But do you think is that all that can be expected from the man?

There is a third a stage in which some people take the help of other people and form teams to achieve certain definite objectives, like running a family business, or opening a service organization or opening a productive enterprise, to produce goods and services to help themselves or to help the community for its survival and maintenance. I will like to call this stage in a man's life as interdependent stage.

In this stage he works along with others taking their help, forms a team. The teams can be formed in different forms as group of people to achieve certain objectives. According to me this is the most potent form of collective human endeavor, which can raise great hopes for individuals and society for upliftment.

This is the same spirit which says united we stand, has been the force behind all the big achievements of humanity. The great industrial empires of the past and great organizations of today stand on collective and supportive human effort.

This stage is Interdependence.

It is much more effective then independence or dependence
