Keeping Motivational Messages Alive
Author: Byron Pulsifer, © 2011
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to attend a number of motivational
and inspirational workshops or seminars. Each of these seminars was very
thought provoking, invigorating and certainly aroused feelings of being
able to conquer any situation or circumstances on the way upward and
The Seminar Fades
for many, though, is that the awesomeness of the motivational seminar
starts to fade rapidly and, in a lot of instances, totally fades
away in a very short period of time.
So, the question is this: why do the motivating messages fade so
rapidly, and what can be done to keep those messages alive and well?
Keep The Motivation
Let me start by saying that having been a motivational seminar leader,
I can tell you some of the things you may wish to consider to help keep
yourself motivated long after the seminar. I have used several of these
suggestions myself and found they are effective.
First of all, I would strongly urge everyone to keep important notes. This means that you write down on paper all the important messages that are delivered - these are messages that made an impact on you. But, even more importantly, make a quick note beside each important point as to why it has meaning for you. I realize there will be a lot of information coming your way, but I believe you will find time to make these notes. These notes will provide later review, and this review should be as soon as possible after the seminar, not a week or month later.
The reason for this review is to expand on your important points where you can by sketching out methods for you to incorporate a significant strategy into your daily life.
After all, if you do not take the time to develop a new skill, a new way of looking at life, or a new method to help you reach your goals,
you might as well not bothered to go.
Secondly, and I know this may not be possible for all, but if you possibly can, take along a spouse, significant other, a good friend, or colleague to the seminar. The reason for this is that you will have a future
companion to discuss the seminar with, a companion to help you if you get stuck, and also a companion that you can do the same for. This person will be your assistant, as you will be there's so that the motivational messages will not be lost or ignored.
It is far too easy to let yourself sink back to your old ways after leaving a seminar if you do not have a coach,
friend, or spouse to help keep you tuned in to following the right path you
so much wanted to, or indicated you would, after the seminar.
Enjoy The Benefits
Keep the messages, strategies, and new found thinking at the forefront of
your action, attitudes
and behaviors and enjoy the benefits of your new and better life.
