What does it mean to be successful? Does being successful mean that in every part of your life, you can now claim to be successful?

Let's take a look at the first question. To be successful in something means that you have set a goal and have completed that goal. If your stated goal was to acquire the most senior post in a company or organization and you have succeeded in reaching the top, then you could argue that you are successful because you attained that specific result.

On the other hand, the fact that you have reached the pinnacle in a company or organization does not mean that you are successful in every aspect of your life. Why do I say that?

The short explanation is this: if you have been able to reach the top position, that success is only one facet of your entire being. That one element of success only speaks to a goal that had to do with your working environment. What about being successful in all of the following;
- as a father or mother?
- with your spouse?
- with your health?
- with God?

I think you get the point. Success is not one-dimensional. Obviously, to be completely successful in each and every facet of your life may never happen, or, if it does, each element may take years.

I believe that each of us goes through life with both success, some success, some failures, and many failures. But, here is the good news. The recognition that you need to improve, or do better in some or many aspects of your life means that you do not assume that one element takes precedence over another, or gives you absolute success in all parts of your life. We all need to improve in many aspects of life no matter who we are.
