Poems To Influence You |

By Catherine Pulsifer If something were to happen to you tomorrow, What would people remember about you? Would they remember the hours you worked? Would they remember the material things you own? Would they remember how much money you had in the bank? Would they remember the number of vacations you took? Would they remember the love you showed? Would they remember your caring and your sharing? Would they remember the help you gave them? Would they remember your smile, your laugh? What will they remember, Your actions today Will determine what they will remember. "When we invest our days in service to others, we have no time for the blues." William Arthur Ward |

William Penn Poet Unknown Enough happiness to keep you sweet, Enough trials to keep you strong, Enough sorrow to keep you human, Enough hope to keep you happy; Enough failure to keep you humble, Enough success to keep you eager, Enough friends to give you comfort, Enough wealth to meet your needs; Enough enthusiasm to look forward, Enough faith to banish depression, Enough determination to make each day better than yesterday. |

William Arthur Ward by Nathan Watson When life's largest pressures leave you struck dumb, Just search for an answer; the solution will come. When a tragedy occurs leaving you feeling numb, Just wait for your health; the strength will come. When everyone relies on you and there is no way you can see, Trust your mind to think with time; patience is the key. When you have made it where others always flee, Just wait to gather courage; soon you'll be where you want to be. When it is nearing the end and you're in need, Muster up your courage; endurance will lead. IT WILL COME remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure. Peter Marshall Poet: Jerry Brundies The body can be a source of wealth Train it right for your health. When the body is ready Your mind will steady. A peace will surround your being And your face will give off a glow As your training has brought the healing Your mind and body know. Poet: Robert E Farley Think of the things that make you happy, Not the things that make you sad; Think of the kind and true in mankind, Not its sordid side and bad; Think of the blessings that surround you, Not the ones that are denied; Think of the virtues of your friendships, Not the weak and faulty side; Think of the gains you've made in business, Not the losses you've incurred; Think of the good of you that's spoken, Not some cruel, hostile word; Think of the days of health and pleasure, Not the days of woe and pain; Think of the days alive with sunshine, Not the dismal days of rain; Think of the hopes that lie before you, Not the waste that lies behind you; Think of the treasures you have gathered, Not the ones you've failed to find; Think of the service you may render, Not of serving self alone; Think of the happiness of others And in this you'll find your own. and it is not possible to find it elsewhere." are the three great physicians." Proverb Poet: Michelle Keesling Climbing higher mountains I will not descend downward Until after I have conquered that fear Clasping stars within my hands They shall not stray from my touch I am a dreamer My wings lie in my mind Where they allow me to divide the clouds As I ascend through their cotton-like tufts One cannot pierce my heart with any arrow It is filled with pure bliss and compassion No one will ever be able to seize that from me Although at times my eyes may look wounded My strength has never fled. "A man is but the encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Albert Einstein "Endurance is patience concentrated." Poet: Edgar A. Guest Figure it out for yourself, my lad, You're all that the greatest of men have had, Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes, And a brain to use if you would be wise. With this equipment we all began, So start for the top and say "I can." Look them over, the wise and great, They take their food from a common plate, And similar knives and forks they use, With similar laces they tie their shoes, The world considers the brave and smart, But you've all they have when they made their start. You are triumph and come to skill, You can be great if you only will. You're well equipped for what path you choose, You have arms and legs and a brain to use, And the Man who has risen great deeds to do Began his life with no more than you. You are the handicap you must face, You are the one who must choose your place, You must say where you want to go, How much you will study the truth to know. God has equipped you for life, but He Let's you decide what you want to be. Courage must come from the soul within, The man must furnish the will to win. So figure it out for yourself, my lad. You were born with all that the greatest have had, With your equipment they all began Get a hold of yourself and say: "I Can." |
