Success Are You Determined

Imagine a world without Disneyland. A lot of people thought Walt Disney's dream was ludicrous. Imagine a theme park covering many acres of land. Think back to the 1950's and imagine someone talking about a theme park. Who would ever invest that much money for a park, and even if you found investors how many people would actually come and visit such a theme park; especially where the main character was a mouse. Many people laughed at his ideas while others told him it was impossible.
Walt Disney had a dream, a strong determination, and a strong belief. He had goals and a vision - he could imagine what others could not see. He made it happen. If he had listened to all those who told him his dream was impossible, we would not have the Disney resorts we have today. I am sure he had doubts, and was tempted to believe what others told him, but his own vision was strong. He invested a good majority of his money in making this dream of Disneyland a reality. And, of course he invested his time and energy.
There are countless situations where individuals were told it was impossible, yet they went on to achieve success. They didn't let others discourage them. They persevered against great odds in some cases.
I believe it all comes down to your own outlook:
- if you think it is impossible, then it is; if you think it can be achieved, then what you see is not the impossible, but the end result. Many people have defeated themselves before they even started by thinking that their goal is not possible. And just as many people have had great successes because they believed that their goal was achievable.Always keep Walt Disney in mind, use his success as encouragement to achieve your dreams.
Read these words said by Disney to help understand his thinking:
"It seems to me shallow and arrogant for any man in these times to claim he is completely self-made, that he owes all his success sto his own unaided efforts. Many hands and hearts and minds generally contribute to anyone's notable achievements."
"Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done, and done right."
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
"I'd say it's been my biggest problem all my life - it's money. It takes a lot of money to make these dreams come true."
"It's no secret that we were sticking just about every nickel we had on the chance that people would really be interested in something totally new and unique in the field of entertainment."
"Of all the things I've done, the most vital is coordinating those who work with me and aiming their efforts at a certain goal.
Walt talking about another Disneyland:
"I've always said that there will never be another Disneyland, and I think it's going to work out that way. But it will be the equivalent of Disneyland. We know the basic things that have family appeal. There are many ways that you can use those certain basic things and give them a new decor, a new treatment. This concept here will have to be something that is unique, so there is a distinction between Disneyland in California and whatever Disney does in Florida."
