There are tonics you can take that are available over the counter in your local drugstore, and there are tonics that only you can prescribe. These tonics do not have to be purchased from any drugstore but are available daily free of charge.
The real tonics of life are those that allow you to live each day with a new spirit and thought.
One of these tonics is the avoidance of worry. Worry is self-defeating; it takes on a life of its own when allowed to gain a foothold with absolutely no positive gain. It diminishes your capacity to own and control your life by accepting something over which you may have no control. Throw it away and instead take action to control what you can and forget the rest.
If you are a believer in a higher being, begin each day with your own kind of prayer which can give you the strength to take and live each day with enthusiasm and quite strength.
A simple but effective tonic is to carefully avoid over indulgence in food or drink. Allow your body the full benefit of nourishing foods that are digested easily, and provide energy.
To live each day also means to allow forgiveness. By holding a grudge or allowing spite to rule your day, you are placing emphasis on the negative and not on the positive. Get rid of envy or jealousy.
Find a way to relax that takes you to a joyful level, a level that quits the nerves and allows thoughts to be calm. One of these relaxing moods can be instilled through a hobby and one that brings you satisfaction and one that thoroughly involves your mind in something different than that which you do for work, or is a necessity.
Another tonic for life is the continuous development of your mind. One of the best ways to keep learning and growing is to read a book on a subject that interests you or one where you do not have any knowledge of whatsoever. What you are looking for is stimulation for your brain so that you are required to think not just read pleasant words.
Another tonic that you can use over and over again with absolutely no negative side effects is that of stress reduction. One of the things in life that causes people to age more inside than anything else today is constant and mounting levels of stress either induced through aspects of work, or all those things associated with keeping up with everyone else in your circle of friends, and all those family responsibilities like taking the kids to this and that and the continued cost of all those activities. To this end, you are your own worse enemy at times where you allow circumstances to control your emotions and those emotions are not positive but negative.
If you are experiencing mounting levels of stress, you must remember that you are in control of your own health and well-being. No one else is going to be able to do it for you, and no one else is accountable for what you experience but you. Following a good exercise routine, for one thing can reduce stress, and this can reduce stress and pay off with other health benefits. And, you do not have to do anything particularly demanding and one of these activities is as simple as going for brisk walks.
The tonic for your life is not a mystery. It is open for you to initiate and control.
You do not need a prescription but you do need a desire to live each day to its fullest.
