Maybe It Wasn’t Meant To Be Page 2

Back to Page 1 of Maybe It Wasn’t
. . . . . call a man I knew had expressed interest in purchasing my truck several months earlier. I couldn’t find his phone number anywhere, so I decided to look up his name in the local phone book. I found twelve people with the same first and last name. Again, not to be defeated, I called them all asking if they were the person who wanted to buy my truck.
Guess what – I couldn’t find him despite calling everyone with the same name.
Could This Be Fate
Sometimes, it just isn’t meant to be – fate. Maybe there is a reason despite how much we want something, or how many attempts we make to get it. Life has a way of sending a message no matter what we do to circumvent its message.
The Time Is Not Right
But, there is also something else I believe. There is a time for everything. Just because I didn’t get what I wanted for my truck, doesn’t mean I won’t ever buy another one. It only means that it wasn’t the right time.
There are a lot of things in life that we cannot have all at once. It is interesting to note that many, many young adults today think that they should have everything right now instead of working long and hard for things like the rest of us older folks have had to do.
Take, for example, acquiring a really good paying position. It is one thing to want it right now but quite another to actually obtain it. It isn’t just a matter of showing up for work with your credentials in hand and expect to get promoted after only a few months or years. It is a situation that is played out constantly across North America, and unfortunately, what many fail to realize is that what you think you are ready for is very often different.
In Summary
There is a time for everything and everything in time. Time is not to be wasted waiting either – it is to be used to continue to develop, to learn, to mature, and to accept that life is what you give and not just what you want. The more you give, the more you will get back. And, giving is not just for work; it is all about life and pertains to those around you – a kind remark, a supportive nature, the willingness to go that extra step, the need to satisfy the needs of others before you think only of yourself.
