Be Patient
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2008
Are the winds of your life contrary, disturbing your comfort zone?
Are they boisterous, hard, forbearing; do you feel you’re traveling alone?
You know that the Scripture gives promise, that the Lord is aware of all things,
He knows the path you must travel, even the hardship that life brings.
When the seas are rough and disturbing, and the rowing seems always upstream,
With a world of indifference to curb you, there’s always a hope and a dream.
Through trials your faith can be strengthened, the tears that you shed can wipe clean,
The worries, the burdens, the heartaches, the longings the world hasn’t seen.
God knows your innermost being, He knows what you need in your life,
Be patient and wait on His timing, in time He’ll remove all your strife.
It’s a matter of trusting, obeying, of letting the Lord have control,
Of being in total submission – your heart, your mind and your soul.
God’s in the business of healing, He gives His children His best,
But sometimes the process of learning seems an eternal long test.
Be patient and trust in His wisdom, allow Him the reigns of your heart,
Give heed to His gentle persuasion, just watch as new miracles start.
God’s in the business of healing, but teaching is also His route,
Be patient, observe, and take notice, He’s faithful; of this there’s no doubt.
A Cog Within The Wheel
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2008
No grief can overwhelm us that our God is not there;
Calamities cannot escape His grace.
A force with which to reckon, destruction all aright;
The elements of nature that displace.
Upheavals and disasters, floods and fire and strife;
Valiance far more fierce than e’re before.
Genocide and murders, irreverence for the law,
The sins of man increasing more and more.
What is good is called evil, all holy things are shunned;
The chaos of the world is out of hand.
The wickedness, the evil, the horrors all around,
The merciless destruction of the land.
No, God has not forgotten, He takes all in account;
His Book records the deeds of all mankind.
He’s given out the message, the choices are our own,
Yet we continue acting as if we’re blind.
The world is in upheaval and Satan seems to rule;
He masquerades as if he were a friend.
But if Christ is your Saviour and you’re in His control,
Then Satan cannot claim God’s very own.
You may be sorely tempted, enticements can be strong,
But be assured, you never walk alone.
The testing may be forceful, the trials seem hard to bear,
The sense of failure seem to temp you sore.
Specific guardian angels, assigned to guide you through,
Will be there as they always were before.
We may not have great influence to change the path men take,
We may just be a cog within the wheel.
It’s how we walk before them, our journey in the faith;
That may have influence on the way they feel.
Like us, their days are numbered, their deeds will be revealed,
Perhaps the way we live will bring them light,
Then we will have accomplished the mission we’re assigned,
That men would walk by faith and not by sight.
Always Something Good
Poet: Julie Hebert, © 2012
I shall be glad when summer comes,
As it’s my favourite time.
The sun, the beach, the big blue sky,
The mountains I love to climb.
But just because summer is,
My favourite time of the year.
It doesn’t mean I won’t look back,
To all seasons with great cheer.
Fall and winter lose the warmth,
That spring and summer find.
But there are still great thing about,
Seasons that are unrefined.
The thing to try and keep in mind,
No matter what the day,
Is there is always something good,
To give thanks to God in prayer.
Look and find the things you love,
Make the most out of all you can.
Don’t stop and wait for life to pass,
Life’s too short to be a season fan.
Quotes about Life
Life’s Tug Of War
Poet: Unknown (thanks to Neill for sending this to us)
Life can seem ungrateful and not always kind.
Life can pull at your heartstrings and play with your mind.
Life can be blissful and happy and free.
Life can put beauty in the things that you see.
Life can place challenges right at your feet.
Life can make good of the hardships we meet.
Life can overwhelm you and make your head spin.
Life can reward those determined to win.
Life can be hurtful and not always fair.
Life can surround you with people who care.
Life clearly does offer its ups and its downs.
Life’s days can bring you both smiles and frowns.
Life teaches us to take the good with the bad.
Life is a mixture of happy and sad.
SO…
Take the life that you have and give it your best.
Think positive be happy let God do the rest.
Take the challenges that life has laid at your feet.
Take pride and be thankful for each one you meet.
To yourself give forgiveness if you stumble and fall.
Take each day that is dealt you and give it your all..
Take the love that you’re given and return it with care.
Have faith that when needed it will always be there.
Take time to find the beauty in the things that you see.
Take life’s simple pleasures let them set your heart free.
The idea here is simply to even the score.
As you are met and faced with Life’s Tug of War.
“Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer.”
Charles Finney
Prayer Quotes and Sayings
God’s Will
Poet: Eliza Hickok
I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know:
God answers prayer.
I know not if the blessing
Sought will come in just
The guise I thought.
I leave my prayer to Him alone
Whose will is wiser than my own.
“God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.”
E.M. Bounds
Quotes about God
Faith
Poet: Margaret Sangster
God knows, not I, the reason why
His winds of storm drive through my door;
I am content to live or die
Just knowing this, nor knowing more.
My Father’s hand appointing me
My days and ways, so I am free.
One Step Ahead
Poet: Unknown
One step ahead, no more I ask to see;
One step ahead He will reveal to me,
Christ leads the way; with Him it’s safe to go
And what my future is I would not know.
One step ahead – why should I anxious be?
He knows the way that is best for me.
He reads my heart and what I need He’ll give.
How safe my life if in His will I love.
One step ahead – no more I dare to ask
Than grace today to help me in my task.
He’ll lead me through, no matter what the trial,
If in His love I trust, this little while.
God’s Care
Poet: Unknown
God watches over the birds that fly;
He sets the stars in the evening sky;
He paints the flower and He sends the rain
That patters against the window pane.
The round, red sun in the eastern sky
He bids ascent to its place on high;
And keeps it there till it sinks to rest,
A ball of fire in the glowing west.
His loving care is around us all –
We rise each day at His gentle call;
We go to sleep at His wise command;
We are led each step by His guiding hand.
Making Plans
Poet: Greta Zwaan, © 2003
Can you leave your nets to go, when you’re called to serve?
Would you let the Lord direct your way?
Are you willing to respond if the summons comes?
Could you change the things you do each day?
It’s not easy when you’re called, it is certain there’ll be stress.
Wouldn’t it be simpler to say “No”?
After all, your plate is full, you’re stretched right to the brink,
Couldn’t someone else be told to go?
You support the church with funds – your duty is discharged,
Isn’t God content to let you be?
Is there not another road, someone else to take the load?
Is there any reason why it should be me?
In a personal response, “Must I always be the one?
Is there not a soul more qualified for this?”
I already have enough, for my road is hard and rough,
I can do without this so called, “added bliss.”
I don’t mean to criticize, but I don’t think that this is wise;
I would rather You would make another choice.
I will still do what I can when there’s time in my day’s plan,
and I’ll always try to listen to Your voice.
Could You call another day? Give me time to think and pray?
As I ponder what all this could mean to me.
Only, God cannot agree when man thinks he must be free,
For man’s purpose is to glorify God’s name.
You will not find peace or rest, while ignoring what is best,
No amount of earthly gold can bring you fame.
For it all will turn to dust if you never learn to trust.
When your time on earth is done, where will you be?
Give great thought, consider this: God presents eternal bliss,
But the offer only lasts while you’re on earth.
Once you breathe your final breath and your eyelids close in death,
Nothing you present will have eternal worth.
Give your soul to God today; walk the straight and narrow way,
Let His Word direct the path you need to take.
With eternity secure, and your life now rich and pure,
It’s the best decision you will ever make.
