Words Cannot Express
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer, © 2016
As I read the cards on the shelf
None of them expressed what is in my heart
My love for you goes beyond words
Not being able to express it makes me feel like a nerd.
Over and over again I tried
It made me feel like the day I was your bride.
Words sometimes cannot express
How much I feel so blessed
To have you in my life
For me to be your wife.
The best words that say how I feel
Don’t really seem like a big deal.
I love you my dear
Those words are clear!
Life’s Greatest Thing
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer, © 2016
Our life together is the best
It is better than all the rest
I never worry about what comes next
Because you beside brings no regret.
Your smile, your cheer
Warms my heart my dear.
I love you so much
And I love your touch.
So on this Valentines day
I wanted to say
You are the greatest thing
That life could ever bring!
Thank You

Some miss love, they don’t take the time
They become too busy with their career
They miss happiness they could have in their prime
They miss so many things that are dear.
I am so thankful I met you long ago
You made my life all worthwhile
Each day, each year our love continues to grow
Every day you make me smile
Thank you for the love you share with me
May this Valentine’s Day be special for you
And may we continue to make happy memories
Each day with you is always like new.
I will love you today, and tomorrow
You are the best thing that has ever happen to me
Our life together I have no sorrow
I will love you forever, always with glee.
A Valentine’s Thought for My Friend
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer, © 2017
There are things in life that we cherish
People whom we hold dear
People and places that bring no anguish
People that we want to be near.
You are one of those people I adore
A special friend who I hold so dear
When I am with you I am never bored
We have fun and never fear.
I can talk to you about anything
You always are patience and never short
You always listen and your words never sting
Patience you have even when I am a dork.
So thank you my friend
May your Valentine’s Day be swell
And may life treat you well until the end
I am sure glad you are my pal.
A Valentine’s Wish For You
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer, © 2017
Be happy, not sad
Be good, not bad
Work hard, don’t slack
Listen well, don’t yak
Keep smiling, no frownin
Have enthusiasm, no melt downs
Share laughter, not tears
Be bold, do not fear
Have hope, not despair
Communicate well, don’t glare
Show patience, not rage
Be optimistic, no rampage
Accept change, do not stay the same
Accept mistakes, never pass on blame
Always persevere, never give up my dear
Pray often, never lose faith be of good cheer
Love much, and always be true
If you do these things life will be good for you.
A Valentine
Poet: Laura Elizabeth Richards
Oh! Little loveliest lady mine,
What shall I send for your valentine?
Summer and flowers are far away;
Gloomy old Winter is king to-day;
Buds will not blow, and sun will not shine:
What shall I do for a valentine?
I’ve searched the gardens all through and through
For a bud to tell of my love so true;
But buds are asleep, and blossoms are dead,
And the snow beats down on my poor little head:
So, little loveliest lady mine,
Here is my heart for your valentine!
Love Is Not
Poet: Richard Watson Gilder
Oh, love is not a summer mood,
Nor flying phantom of the brain,
Nor youthful fever of the blood.
Nor dream, nor fate, nor circumstance.
Love is not born of blinded chance.
Nor bred in simple ignorance.
Love is the flower of maidenhood;
Love is the fruit of mortal pain;
And she hath winter in her blood.
True love is steadfast as the skies,
And once alight she never flies;
And love is strong, and love is wise
A Valentin For You
Poet: Unknown
V ain world farewell,
I live for love,
A mbition ne’er my soul shall move;
L ove is the all of my desire,
E ach thought, each
N e’er can wealth my hopes excite;
T itles are mere trifles light;
I n a sound there’s no delight.
N ames, can never joy
Cards and Kisses
Poet: John Lyly
Cupid and my Campaspe play’d
At cards for kisses–Cupid paid:
He stakes his quiver, bow, and arrows,
His mother’s doves, and team of sparrows;
Loses them too; then down he throws
The coral of his lips, the rose
Growing on’s cheek (but none knows how);
With these, the crystal of his brow,
And then the dimple of his chin:
All these did my Campaspe win.
At last he set her both his eyes–
She won, and Cupid blind did rise.
O Love! has she done this for thee?
What shall, alas! become of me?
To My Dear and Loving Husband
Poet: Anne Bradstreet
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were lov’d by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more then whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee, give recompence.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persevere,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love
Poet: Christopher Marlowe
Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove,
That valleys, groves, hills and fields,
Woods or steepy mountains yields.
And we will sit upon the rocks,
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks
By shallow rivers, to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.
And I will make thee beds of roses,
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle;
A gown made of the finest wool,
Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
Fair-lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;
A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me and be my love.
The shepherds’ swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May morning;
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.
More Short Valentine Poems:
A Valentine wish to the one that I hold so dear
You are the one I have been dreaming of
I will always hold you close, I love you near
There is no other I could love.
Kate Summers
Love when shared is a wonderful thing
Happiness it does bring
You make me laugh, you make me sing
My love to you I do bring
Catherine Pulsifer
A special day it is today
A day to celebrate our love for each other
And I would have it no other way
As there will never be another.
Robert Rivers
I declare my love for you
I love all that you do
We laugh together and sometimes cry
But I will never say good bye.
For you make my life complete
I will tell the world so in this tweet.
Catherine Pulsifer
Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists…
When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves.
We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost.
That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.
Edmond de Goncourt
My dearly beloved if I am to die today
and never see the sweet face of you
I want you to know that I am no great man
and am lucky to have such a woman as you.
Wild Bill Hickok
Sometimes your nearness takes my breath away;
and all the things I want to say
can find no voice. Then, in silence,
I can only hope my eyes will speak my heart.
Robert Sexton
Love is working things out when it’s wrong,
Love is not quitting it’s staying and being strong,
Love is being there through the ups and downs
Adoring the smiles and changing frowns.
Khary Tolliver, This beautiful love
Sweet are the words of Love,
sweeter his thoughts:
Sweetest of all what
Love nor says nor thinks.
Richard Garnett
Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.
Henry Van Dyke
