Left Behind

Left Behind

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”

I Had That Idea
How often have we heard about a new product, or a new way of doing something, and it was exactly what we had already thought about. Someone else received credit for it because they took the action and did it.

Move Beyond Thinking
We can spend hours, days, months, even years, thinking or talking about something we want to accomplish. But, nothing happens until we take action!

People have lots of ideas, yet they never take a step towards implementation. They think it can’t be done, or that it would take too much work, or they listen to other people who tell them it won’t work.

Has someone ever voiced an idea you’ve been thinking about, and everyone thought it was great?

Do It Now
Now is the time to take the bull by the horns and not waste another minute. There is only one way to proceed and that is to grasp the moment, the idea and the courage to move forward. Sure, there are risks involved, but what part of life do you know that really is guaranteed? There are no guarantees about any aspect of life.

If you think that it is not the right time to move forward with an idea, you may be engaging in the ‘excuse syndrome’ where any excuse will be good enough to dissuade you from acting.

There are so many ideas that need to hatch and you could easily be the one to bring them to reality.

A Friend’s Example
Not that long ago, for example, I had a friend who desperately wanted to do his own thing in that he was tired of working for someone else. He had a few ideas for a unique product to make generating power but not like the solar energy that is common today. It also had to do with harnessing wind power and heat from the ground all in one unique invention. He told me about his idea but had not taken any action yet on setting it in motion.

I asked him about his idea from time to time whenever I saw him but he had not moved one step further than just thinking about it. So, I asked him to do me a favor and that was to ask him to write down his ideas, and to draw pictures, not in a fancy way, to show his ideas. He agreed.

A few weeks later, I met him again and asked to see his drawings and written description. As soon as I asked him, a smile came to his face. He proceeded to tell me that he had not only written a description but also had professional drawings made by a loyal friend of his who was a mechanical engineer. With a beaming smile, he brought these drawings out to show me. I was absolutely amazed at what I saw. The drawings were as complete as I had ever seen with every detail described in great detail taking up more than ten pages.

The story just didn’t end here either. He has now collaborated with several people who have given him their expertise for free and agreed to back him financially in order for his project to get to the pre-production stage by creating a prototype.

Be Encouraged
All it takes sometimes is a gentle nudge, a little encouragement. Do not delay. Get your ideas down on paper and register your idea with a patent office. At least, in this way, you just may get a phone call from someone who would gladly buy your rights to manufacture your patented idea and help bring it to life.

Don’t be left behind take action on your ideas!

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.”
