Persistence not Failure

Persistence not Failure

Everyone meets failure in their journey through life. To overcome failure, you need to concentrate and focus your energy on your goal. If you don’t succeed the first time, try another way.

Stay Focused
We are easily distracted or side-tracked by working on areas that bear no relation to our goal. Keep your goal focused in your mind at all times.

You can easily get sidetracked in the pursuit of your goals if you have developed a home-based business for example. There are a host of issues to contend with that can easily lead you to do other things rather than work on your business tasks. Among these distractions is the location of your home office, whether you have young children, or if you live in an area where the weather is usually bright and sunny.

For Example
If your home office is located in the same area as the rest of your home occupied by your family, you can be distracted by the noise of family in the kitchen, or the TV in the living room, or friends that come over after school to play with your child or children. If others too easily access you, that is, you do not even have a door to close, you will be distracted or bothered by a host of normal living events.

It is also far too easy to give in to friend’s requests that do not work the same hours as you do when they call to see if you can come out for a game of golf, or drop by uninvited during the working day just to have a chat and a coffee. It is something that occurs quite often. There seems to be an underlying lack of comprehension that people do not seem to recognize that when you work at home it actually means you work and are just as unavailable as when you worked in an office downtown.

Want To Be Your Own Boss
To be your own boss requires a level of organization, a need to be focused completely on the tasks you must perform or you will soon find that you are only doing a few things and your business starts to suffer badly. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline to successfully manage a home-based business. You need to be a jack-of-all-trades including your own accountant, billing department, marketing department and sales. Each one of these tasks takes time, and effort and actually cuts into your productive time. So, one thing is for sure; if you want to stay on schedule, you will end up doing a lot of these other necessary tasks during non-office hours.

The work at home boss is a real case study in being focused over the lifetime of the business. No one ever succeeded working at home who wasn’t passionate about his or her choice, nor is one successful if you allow little household chores to take precedence over your valuable work time. For example, it is really tempting to go outside and do a little yard work when the sun is shining and the lure of doing something that is a little more fun can be a real downfall. Or, how about just watching a little TV at lunch and then finding out that a movie you’ve wanted to see for months is coming on TV. Do you watch it? If you do, you are falling into a really bad habit.

Keep your goal focused in your mind at all times.

Use The Time You Have
Now, on the other hand, you may only have a few hours through the week to work on a specific goal that will help you get a promotion, for example. Again, it is much too easy to just back off working when you are tired from the hectic workweek. But, this isn’t the time to quit or give up for every hour counts especially when you realize that you can never get these hours back nor can you make up the time easily.

Put your energy and effort into completing tasks that move you closer to your goal. Even if you set aside only 30 minutes a day, you are being persistent and consistently moving closer and closer to your goal.

A Question
Ask yourself if you have been defeated by your own lack of persistence without realizing it. Step back and take a hard look at how persistent you have really been.
