How Do You React
Circumstances that happen to cross our life do not have the power to change our thoughts or reactions and, in fact, have no power at all to control us. Each one of these circumstances is simply an event that we witness or see. We can choose to ignore it, or we can choose to address it if it is within our own sphere of influence. If we decide to do something about it, we also have options to decide. We can choose, on the one hand, to get all bent out of shape (this is where circumstances are allowed to shape behavior), or we can choose to approach each event by looking for a positive solution (this is where we control how we react to the event). Both choices are available so which one would you rather choose?

To take the initiative by doing what you want to do puts the ball into your court rather than reacting in a defensive way. The real difference is that to look for a solution is a positive frame of mind but to instead dwell on the event and feel despair or annoyance is a negative reaction which leads nowhere except greater frustration.

Do Not Waste Your Days By
Focusing on yesterdays’ failures – it is only a failure if you stop trying, and if you learned nothing from it.

– Anxiety over today’s problems – if you can fix the problem do so, if not move on. Do not waste your day worrying about that which you have no control over.

Worrying about tomorrow’s uncertainty – remember it is today that you are living, not tomorrow. And, if you do the things that need to be done today, tomorrow will take care of itself.

– Allowing procrastination to dominate your day – procrastination truly is the thief of time.

– Giving up – there is a saying, “persistence prevails when all else fails.”

Before you start each day
Read this quote outloud: “What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.” Is what you are going to do today worth a day of your life?
