Life Steps
, © 2007

Our entire life is made up of choices,
What we decide, the action we take,
the attitude we display
All represent the steps of life.

Sometimes we take two steps forward
And one-step back.
Some of us take baby steps
Some of us take giant steps

But the secret is not to let that
one step back turn into a failure.
Learn from backward steps
And keep on stepping forward in this dance Called Life!

Keep on
stepping forward in this dance called life!
“Keep on stepping forward in this dance Called Life!”
Motivational Quotes

Foundation of Life
Poet: Dorsey Baker, ©2012

If you are always looking for fault,
that is what you will find-
If you are always looking for fault,
that is what you will find-
and you’ll never have peace of mind.
If you are always looking for the bad,
you’ll never see the good,
If you are always looking for the bad,
you’ll never see the good, surely must be clearly understood-
Don’t look for the shadow and the sun you will see,
Don’t look for the shadow and the sun you will see.
and a better human being you will surely be!

Poet: William de Witt Hyde

Live in the active voice, rather than passive.
Think more about what you happen than what is happening to you.

Live in the indicative mood, rather than in the subjunctive.
Be concerned with things as they are, rather than as they might be

Live in the present tense, facing the duty at hand
without regret for the past or worry over the future.

Live in the singular number, caring more for the approval of your
own conscience than for the applause of the crowd.

The Mirror of Life
Catherine Pulsifer, © 2012

Life is but a mirror,
Looking back at us.
Everything we do each day,
Should lead us to impress.

And sometimes when we need,
To see life differently.
We have that mirror to help us,
Change our view gently.

The eyes of everyone,
Also reflect back.
Mirrors come in different ways,
To show us what we lack.

But most importantly,
Don’t forget to always look.
Be your best
And life will look after the rest.

What we see and what we do
Are reflections of what is true
Don’t let your mirror reflect the things
That you do not want to come true.

Instead each day set your goals
Strive to complete, it is good for your soul.
Give life all you’ve got
Never look in the mirror and stop.

Just One
Poet Unknown

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey.
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true,
One life can make a difference,
You see, it’s up to you!

Life’s Failures
Poet: Julie Hebert, ©2017

In life we will have failures, always wishing we had waivers,
To take back what we’ve just done.
So take some time, to sit and unwind,
So you can see what you’ve learned from.

It may be something small, maybe even smaller than a doll,
Something that not everyone else would see,
But the important part is that you don’t fail or fall
To learn something that’s within thee.

So why don’t we just let failures be the threat,
Because a failure is more than just that.
If we can allow ourselves to see, that maybe a failure is our key,
Our next attempt may have a better chance at.

So start to change your mind, that a failure can be kind,
If we allow ourselves to learn from it.
No more shall a failure bring unhappiness to him
As it’s now one less failure to submit.

Believe This
Poet: Wilhelmina Stitch

You’re winning. You simply cannot fail.
The only obstacle is doubt;
There’s not a hill you cannot scale
Once fear is put to rout.

Don’t think defeat, don’t talk defeat,
The word will rob you of your strength.
“I will succeed,” This phrase repeat
Throughout the journey’s length.

The minute that “I can’t is said –
You slam a door right in your face.
Why not exclaim, “I will” instead?
Half won then is the race.

You close the door to your success
By entertaining one small fear.
Think happiness, talk happiness,
Watch joy then coming near.

The word “impossible” is black.
“I can” is like a flame of gold.
No whining, heart! Eyes! look not back;
Be strong, O Will! and bold.

You’re winning, though the journey’s slow;
You’re gaining steadily each day.
O Courage! what a warmth and glow
You shed along your way.
