The Breath of Spring. . .
Poet: John McLeod The breath of Spring Lifting on wings that feel The pulse of Life Hope that will bring A sense of 'real' After the shadowy, wintry days Now gone.... The dawn's first whispering Of gentle birdsong 'wakening To splendid day, The heart takes wing And soars majestically On freedom's way.... What joy indeed! The poet in me Rejoices midst the gentle need To happy be.... And counts his blessings! Shadows Poet: John McLeod, ©1985 Shadows, when daylight falls To leave its afterglow, a gift Of soft, sweet dusk To light the way of lovers; And stillness, when the sounds Of carefree children have run, fleet-footed Home, to bath-time's sleepy overtures And warm safe making Galleon'd dreams. Oh childhood days Wherefore have you led me To be writing thus at evensong, Feeling in my heart a poignancy And sadness for, I know not what, Except that a thousand, more indeed, Sweet inner poems beguile My memory's window And this moment of love Leaves, as passage recorded, A peace, and somehow, knowing Beyond my understanding Of shadows, When daylight falls! "Each day be thankful for all you have and appreciate the opportunity to live this day." Kate Summers Appreciation Quotes, Sayings, Messages Count your blessings. . . By Author Unknown, thanks to John for sending to us I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now. I don't worry much about that, I'm happy anyhow. And as I go along life's way, I'm reaping better than I sowed. I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed. Haven't got a lot of riches, and sometimes the going's tough. But I've got loving ones all around me, and that makes me rich enough. I thank God for all his blessings, and the mercies He's bestowed. I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed. I remember times when things went wrong, My faith wore somewhat thin. But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again. So Lord, help me not to gripe, about the tough rows I have hoed. I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed. If God gives me strength and courage, When the way grows steep and rough. I'll not ask for other blessings, I'm already blessed enough. And may I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads. Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed. When Sunlight Finds In Rain . . . Poet: John McLeod, © 1985 When sunlight finds in rain A prism sweet, And from the tumbling main The voyager's feet Find hallowed ground The land left long ago, When soft the sounds, Familiar, stir a glow Within the heart That longed to fly and roam, Dear thoughts impart:- "It's so nice to come home". When birdsong lights the Soul With music's joy, And memory's scroll So gently will employ From rich enchantment's store The image clear Of childhood's shore The wondrous yester-year When all the world was mine The seas wild foam -- Yet still the time:- "It's so nice to come home". And home is where the heart is So they say, Wherever you are now This wipes the grey, For only love remains When all has flown, The transient pains And seeds of hope long sown, For sunlight dwells within To light and warm, We all begin Somehow to weather storm And tempest, yet the calm's Rich healing loam Is soothing balm, "It's so nice to come home". Lines on Rain Poet: John McLeod, ©1985 I cannot really tell you how I feel about the rain Nor the sunlight's healing rays, nor the sparkling Majesty of moon and stars bedecking the vaulted Velvet of the night. . . I cannot tell you because The words I have are inadequate as tools of expression, For the infinite cannot be described, no more than A rainbow or moonbeam can be captured in a jar! I know only that I love the rain, and the sun and moon And stars in equal measure with a love I cannot gauge Or describe . . . Am I not blessed indeed? |
