“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
– Mark Twain.

Sometimes we all need a little reminder of the adverse effects of overthinking, pondering, and procrastinating.

When we excessively ruminate daily, we torment ourselves with the what ifs, the maybes, and the how comes and miss out on the moment!

Negative overthinking will only cause a snowball effect of worry, stress, and fear, which are the main drivers of anxiety and depression.

Overthinking comes naturally, but it is possible to train yourself to turn the chatter off and focus on the positives.

We have collected some of our favorite overthinking quotes from various inspirational authors. These quotes aim to provoke positive thinking and enable you to change your habitual patterns of overthinking.

We hope you enjoy reading and relating to these Quotes and hope they inspire you!

  38. Tips for Overthinking

When it comes to overthinking, you may be surprised to hear that you are in more control than you realize. I genuinely believe that we can alter our habitual thinking with simple changes in our everyday lives. From the moment we get up in the morning and start the day right, we are already one step closer to being in the right mindset for the rest of the day.

Let these tips guide you throughout your day; over time, it will become second nature, and you will be the master of your mind!

    Exercise!
Having the right amount of exercise daily releases hormones that promote positive thinking. When our bodies are stagnant, our minds will likely overflow with racing thoughts. In my opinion (along with eating healthily), exercise is the first step we must take to calm our minds and take a different perspective.

    Reading
I often find that the best escape from the chatter inside my head is to pick up a good book and immerse myself in the pages. Reading stops us from overthinking unnecessary scenarios and transports us into a different world where we can forget our woes and ignite our imagination. Not to mention, reading is incredibly beneficial to our memory, focus, and communication skills.

    Mindfulness
Mindfulness is one of the biggest secrets to combating overthinking in everyday life. The power of mindfulness and meditation encourages us to use our breath to restore peace and calm to our minds. Why not try a bit of yoga while you are at it? I find 10 minutes every morning is the best way to ‘set’ my mind for a busy day in a busy life.

    Sleep
You can’t pour from an empty cup, right? Lack of sleep will only hinder your body’s natural hormone reproduction. Hormones such as melatonin and, importantly, cortisol, the stress hormone, and we all know when we are stressed, we tend to overthink. Sleep can be incredibly neglected and underrated, making us feel on edge, unhappy, and in a constant cycle of unhealthy habits, overthinking being one of them.

Thanks for reading and we hope you can soon become the master of your own mind!
